Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt first opened on May 7, 1979 as the first Islamic & Commercial Bank in Egypt. The Bank aims to carry out all banking, commercial and investment activities, financing economic and urban development projects through the Zakat Fund. Faisal Islamic Bank is subject to the supervision of the Central Bank of Egypt and carries out all its instructions in addition to submitting the required monthly reports to the general administration for supervising banks.

Faisal Islamic Bank is a member of the Association of Egyptian Banks, Accounting & Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions, General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions in Bahrain, and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in Malaysia.
